Entry #4
Personally, I found this game to be a bit challenging, so I figured I'd give you people some helpful tips to make it a bit easier. Also, I'm extraordinarily bored, so... anyway. Some of the things I'll mention might seem like common sense, but I'm not trying to be insulting or condescending in any way.
1) Make two healers. Trust me, you'll need them both. I like to equip one with a red weapon and one with a blue so I don't sacrifice too much melee damage.
2) Know which enemies to kill first. Always target the enemies that can hit everyone (phoenix, samurai, etc.) or cause horrible status effects (lurker-type enemies can blind your whole party).
3) Know what you're getting into before you fight. If you see two phoenixes in one room, my suggestion is to just run away. They don't aggro (although they move very quickly) so you can run past them. Their Flame Wall attack is devastating, and if they both cast it in the same round, it will likely kill your whole party.
4) ALWAYS UPGRADE YOUR ITEMS. I can't stress this enough. Money is extremely plentiful, and upgrades are relatively cheap. Always keep everyone's items as upgraded as you can.
5) Enemies are always the same level as the level of the dungeon, so keep that in mind. If you're level 15 and moving onto dungeon level 16, the enemies will all be a higher level than you. Since enemies generally do decent damage, it's never a good idea to fight anything higher than your level.
6) If you find yourself needing cash or items, you can simply clear two rooms and move back and forth between them. There is a chance for a chest to spawn when you enter a room, so if you simply move back and forth between two cleared rooms, you can harvest chests and get the gold/loot inside as many times as you have the patience for.
7) Don't sell your RS items. Some of them are extremely helpful; I found the Crab Claw to be the most helpful RS in my inventory.
8) If you see one of the rare monsters, be prepared for a tough fight. In my experience, Bunch is the hardest, followed by Bahumot, followed by Fury. Bunch is the hardest because he has a strong attack that hits everyone (and he uses it frequently), Bahumot is second as he also has a party-murdering attack (but he rarely uses it), and Fury is a pushover. Know that they have a large amount of HP, so heal up before you fight them.
9) Buy a ton of ethers. Your characters don't have a large amount of MP, so you'll need to refill it frequently (especially the healers).
10) Play the Zombie Defense game as many times as you can stand to get items. You can get some pretty decent stuff on higher difficulty levels.
11) Feed your slime as often as you can.
12) Don't forget to sell all your useless weapons and armour. They are a huge source of cash, and you do have limited bag space.
13) Grind your tits off. Enemies don't respawn until you leave the floor of the dungeon, so clear the level of all enemies you want to fight, leave (by either set of stairs or by going to town) and go back to have another set of enemies to kill. I like to stay at least a level or two higher than the enemies I'm fighting.
14) Attack Up All is easily the most overpowered skill in the game. Use it as often as you can.
15) Keep in mind that bosses have two "stages"; all status effects are cleared when you reduce their HP to 0 the first time. Keeping this in mind, I find it's best to give your party beneficial effects instead of casting detrimental effects on the boss; the positive effects stay when the boss changes form.
I'm sure there are more suggestions I can add, but I can't think of any at the moment. If you have suggestions you'd like me to put on the list, feel free to tell me via comment or PM.

Nice tips! I have similar and some other tips as well:
1) My party setup: Tristam: Fighter; Kaeli: Rouge; Phoebe: Fighter; Reuben: Healer (later dual as healer/mage). I had no trouble adventuring through the "Evil Cave", though Reuben could be sometimes the Achilles heel of the party, until later in the game as he got pretty strong.
2) Grind through every level fully and do all of the sub-quests when available including a few tours with the "Random Dungeon" quest, so that the characters' experience levels are approximately at level 30 when reaching dungeon level 30. Later on the characters level up about 1.5-2 levels per dungeon level if exploring each level thoroughly (a small sign pops up when a dungeon level is fully explored).
3) Always carry in your inventory a whole lot of ethers, healing potions and some town portal scrolls, and when finding new equipment in the dungeons that suit your character's setup, equip them, as items with higher levels can be used but not upgraded until your character's level surpass the equipment's. In the deeper dungeon levels rare items can be found in chests or as battle loot.
4) Feeding the slime only high quality food items yield depending on the combination rare (orange colored) equipment, RS items or permanent boosters such as "Mana Seed".
5) Kaeli's "Quick Shot" and Tristam's "Omnislash" are two of the best skills there is, of course they depend on strong characters and good equipment. Also, I believe these skills are dependent on the Attack stat, not the Magic stat, this might be helpful knowing. These two skills and Phoebe's "Quake" skill are the only ones I use frequently now.
6) The expert "Zombie Defense" mini-game is more or less based on speed, reflexes and lots of luck, keep trying until you get it right.
7) The secret medal is easy to find, just keep carefully looking.
8) Always refill your mana when needed after battles, also use healing skills/potions after a battle if needed, as some enemies have a very strong attack and can knock out your characters in one or two strikes if HP is ~half or lower, even if you have good high level equipment & high defense.
9) As stated above, keep items at the same level or above your characters current exp. level, and replace them when you can with better ones.
Thank You for sharing Your tips, RickyTheFish. I hope I add something with my tips.

You must be confused with the skeleton king becuase the secret skeleton boss is called bunch.
No, the "King" boss I referred to was the Crab King. The "King" bosses always have a crown on their head, so they are hard to miss; plus, I've fought each of the rare enemies a bunch of times, so I can recognize them when I see them. Bunch is a skeleton, Fury is a zither or a guitar, and Bahumot is a little dragon.

I'm also making a guide on crystal story...
This is incredibly helpful; any way to finding the rare bosses? Currently I've only found 2
They seem to appear randomly; the first rare enemy I encountered was in the first "Missing" side-quest, however the most recent level of the dungeon I played had four rare enemies (two Bahumot and two Fury) plus the "King" boss.

About the secret medal: I see, thanks. I read it in the Wi/Ht forum thread, and my first thought was Catnip + Feed Slime. I'm not sure if it works, since I've only got 4 catnips in my pouch.
About lvl 50 char: It's up to you, but it's a huge chore to grind like that. I killed the Ultimate Dragon with lvl 40s since, as you said, self-buffs make you awesome. Plus you pick up equipment that is higher than your current level, which is handy for exp. rings.
I found leveling my 50 char easier when I only had two guys: one healer/mage (lvl 50), and one warr/rogue (damage guy) ... and even then, I kept the warr low on HP so that there was every chance he would die.
This way this pair of chars level up twice as quick, and you can use your most powerful moves (Omnislash and Blizzard for me) to make swift work of the mobs.
Yeah, it definitely is a huge chore to grind like that. I've probably spent more time playing this game than any other Flash game except for the Castaway games. Add to the grinding the fact that the floors get larger and larger the farther you go into the dungeon, and fully mapping each floor while killing all of the enemies turns into a rather lengthy endeavour.
Omnislash is definitely an extraordinarily strong move, as it can do a few thousand damage if all attacks hit the same enemy. I see that you decided to keep Tristam and Reuben alive; Reuben was my mage as well, but for some reason he always sucked. If I were to deliberately keep only two characters alive, with my equipment/skills setup I would choose Tristam (fighter/rogue) and Kaeli (rogue/healer). That would give me enough healing power to keep at least one of them alive while being able to dish out tons of damage with Omnislash and Quickshot (Kaeli's equivalent of Omnislash). Plus Kaeli has an absurd amount of MP, so she could pretty much do Quickshot all day with an occasional Greater Ether thrown in there.

No luck on the secret medal?
Just want to make a suggestion about point 13. I don't think you should grind your tits off on every level, since you're only after an explore 30 floors medal. I dodged most of the monsters beyond lvl 25, and only explored the levels that had a warp on them (every 5th level, and then every pair). The 5th levels are only 4 rooms long, so they're easy to explore.
Gonna try for the level 50 one. I think it might be easier if 2 of the characters were dead.
I've been killing every enemy I come across, because I figure that getting as much EXP as possible while trying to get to the bottom of the dungeon will make my trip to level 50 that much shorter. Equipping EXP rings is also a good idea.
I'm not sure what the secret medal is, but I think it might have something to do with feeding the slime; perhaps you have to feed him a certain type of food, or a certain number of times. The medal is called "Nyan," and the icon is the slime shitting a rainbow, which is obviously a reference to Nyan Cat. Perhaps you have to feed the slime a whole bunch of Catnip items in a row or something.
